Constitution and Corporate Status


The European Association of Labour Court Judges (EALCJ) is a company limited by guarantee, incorporated under United Kingdom law.

The EALCJ is an independent body committed to the promotion of information and contacts in the field of employment law and judicial practice. Membership is open to Judges of a Specialist National Labour Court and Judges of a Supreme Court with specialist jurisdiction over labour law matters, drawn from all countries and former member states of the European Union and the European Economic Area.

Under the Constitution of the EALCJ, day-to-day running of the Association is delegated to the Officers, who comprise:

The President Judge Lubomír Ptáček, Czech Republic
The Immediate Past-President Judge Jakob Wahl, Norway
The Secretary-General Judge Gerrard Boot, The Netherlands
The Convenor Professor Judge Alan Neal, United Kingdom
The Treasurer Judge Dawn Shotter, United Kingdom

The President is elected and serves for a period of one year. The remainder of the Officers are elected and serve for a period of three years.
